Next Up: Colossalcon

Hey everyone, summer is drawing near which means Colossalcon is too! Held at the Kalahari Water Park Resort in Sandusky, Ohio, Colossalcon is an anime convention from June 2nd to June 5th that truly kicks off the convention season.

Unlike most conventions, where the only things to do are attend panels, events, or people watch, Colossalcon's biggest draws are the indoor and outdoor water parks connected to the resort. Bathing suit cosplays dominate, and it is common to see more photoshoots happening at the wave pool than actual swimming.

What is better than relaxing poolside in cosplay? Relaxing poolside in cosplay and an absolutely gigantic drink in your hand!

The Kalahari has a number of bars serving these enormous mixed concoctions, including the famous hot tub bar, where you swim up and place your order from the comfort of a large hot tub. My favorite is the Kalahari Sunrise.

This will be my 2nd Colossalcon, and first as someone 21+, so needless to say I am excited for a long weekend of seeing friends, splashing around, cosplaying, and cocktails.
